  2. PCELM

  5. PCElm is an external electronic mailer program which is normally
  6. entered from the DIS Session Manager.
  7.  
  8. PCElm has a friendly menu-driven interface, and is largely
  9. self-explanatory.  It contains a built-in text editor, support
  10. for message address filtering, screen colour mapping and other
  11. very useful features.  PCElm prompt messages and error messages
  12. are kept in a separate file, which you can edit into your own
  13. language if required.

  15. Before use, PCElm requires a startup file (~/spool/mail/pcelm.rc)
  16. to specify certain initial parameter settings.

  18. Also, PCElm requires that certain DOS environment variables be
  19. set up before use (see the "DISview" file !ENVIRON.TXT).

  21. In particular, it is essential that the HOME variable is set up
  22. correctly, defined with a _DOS_ pathname, _not_ a SUBSTituted
  23. drive name.

  25. For example, PCElm will work properly if you define HOME as:

  27.    SET HOME=C:\DEMON\SPOOL\MAIL  <<<<<<<< THIS WORKS

  29. but will NOT work if you set HOME as:

  31.    SET HOME=N:\                  <<<<<<<< THIS DOES  N-O-T  WORK
